So far as I am able to determine, there never has been in the history of pugilism, or other athletic endeavors, a man whose career has been longer than mine, and there has been no one to reach my age with his skill and strength intact. Men ten to twenty years younger than I have retired from the ring and are forgotten. As for me, I am continuing daily, my physical development and the care of my body with the same conscientiousness that I observed when engaging in the arduous work of meeting all boxers. More than that, I have in recent months engaged in some severe ring battles and won all of them. Only the restrictions of boxing commissions because of my age, prevent me from becoming a contender for the highest ring honors. Yet a large percentage of the public, I believe, feel that I am still capable of standing up against the best of the boxers. Friends who know me best believe that I can defeat any of the present heavyweights.
